William Jay Freeman, 60, of Leroy, MI (formerly of Ravenna, MI), passed away on September 19, 2025, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
William was born on November 4, 1964, in Grand Rapids, MI, to Bernice Freeman. He grew up in the Grand Rapids area and later married Sally Freeman. Together, they raised five daughters. William proudly served as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for over 20 years, retiring in November 2024.
He was known for his passion for hunting and fishing, his constant joking with his kids and grandkids, and his legendary mail carrier stories.
William is survived by his loving wife, Sally Freeman; his five daughters: Amanda Schoonmaker (Cody), Cassandra Lintern (Travis), Samantha Hysell (Brad), Cheyanna Carew (Colton), and Raeanna Foupht (Dakota); and his eleven grandchildren: Kalli Lintern, Kenadi Lintern, Kolten Lintern, Kambri Lintern, Bryant Kuiper, Gentrey Kuiper, Russ Hysell, Ryelyn Freeman, Willow Foupht, Wrenly Foupht, and Sonni Carew. He is also survived by his mother, Bernice Freeman; his siblings: Robert Freeman, Brian Freeman (Becky), and Bonnie Byle (Chris); along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Leroy, MI, on October 5, 2025, at Rose Lake Township Hall 15953 16 Mile Rd Leroy, MI 49655 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
