Ronald Ray Rhoton, of Cadillac, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at his home surrounded by family. He was 74.
Ronald was born on October 3, 1950 in Toledo, Ohio. He was the son of Jess Ray Rhoton and Eola (Frost) Grant Cable. Ron spent his career working as a semi driver for Jeep/ Chrysler for 38 years. Ron was a proud Marine, serving in Vietnam for three tours as a rifleman and scout. He received an honorable discharge with many medals and ribbons, including three Purple Hearts. Ron loved spending time outdoors and especially enjoyed going hunting, of all types. His greatest joy was fishing on Lake Erie. Ron spent over 5 years traveling around the United States in their RV with his beloved wife, Diane "Deeter". They shared and experienced many good times. Ron made it to all 50 states and also traveled to many foreign countries as well.
Ron is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane "Deeter" Rae (Langworthy) Rhoton; children, Ronald J. Rhoton of Virginia, Leslie (Jerry) Hanweck of New York, Melissa (Shane) Turner of Ohio, and Angie (Tom) Jackson of Ohio; grandchildren, Penelope and Fred Hanweck, Kelsie (Austin) Moyer, Gabe, Marina, Collin, and Landon Turner, Kate (Sam) Schwander, Nate (Abbi) Jackson, Josephine Sutton, Jace and Ethan Jackson; great-grandchildren, Axl, Ben, Blake, Chandler, Jayceon, Liam and Malia; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jess Rhoton; his mother, Eola (Frost) Grant Cable; siblings, Russell and Laurie; and a grandchild, Ronnie Rhoton.
A private Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Vets Serving Vets Park in Cadillac.
