Robert E. "Bob" Dunning, of Harrietta, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at his home with family by his side. He was 78.
Bob was born on September 14, 1946 to Robert and Helen (Kin) Dunning in Midland, Michigan. He was a graduate of Midland High School, Class of 1965. He proudly answered the call of duty, serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Upon his return home, he went on to achieve a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University. On March 24, 1973, he entered into marriage with the former Patricia A. Kunisch in Sebewaing, Michigan. Bob began the start of his career working for Missman Stanley and Associates as a civil engineer and land surveyor, from there he branched out to work for several other companies over the remainder of his career. He dedicated 38 years to his profession, until his time of retirement in 2011. In his spare time he enjoyed hiking and walking the dogs. He liked to volunteer on the North Country Trail and he served as a fire board member for the village of Harrietta. Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Patti Dunning of Harrietta; two sons, Bradley A. (Lindsay) Dunning of Powhatan, VA and Patrick Dunning of Midlothian, VA; grandchildren, Nevaeh and Brayden; siblings, Christine Dunning and David Dunning; 12 nieces and nephews; 22 grand- nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Dunning; and a sister, Linda in 2018.
Cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
