Richard Benavides, 77, of Harrisville, Michigan, and formerly of Manton, Michigan, passed away after a short, but courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
Richard was born in Pearsall Texas on March 3, 1948 to Florention and Santos (Ramos) Benavides. He shared his youth with one brother and five sisters. Richard married young and began his family early in life. His work ethic was strong; he wasn’t afraid to work hard. He was passionate about the truck driving business. Richard lived most of his life in the thumb area of the state, where he has many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family. He loved animals, a clean house, and a clean pair of shoes. Richard was an avid dancer, he loved music, and in his younger years- he was a real charmer. His life was not perfect; he had regrets, but in his final days, he made peace with them all. He found forgiveness, love and true acceptance in his Savior, Jesus Christ. Richard spent his final days in the care of his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Flora Charo; step-son, Gabe Rangel; partner/wife, Linda Benavides; brother-in-law, Bert Hilborn; and great-grandson, Isaiah Benavides.
Richard is survived by his brother, Gilbert (Mercy) Benavides; his sisters, Linda Hilborn, Mary (Jesse) Barrientes, Rosie Oviedo, and Maria (Chad) Mallory. He is also survived by his children, Cindy (Don) Musselman, Denise (Tom) Nathe, Richard Benavides Jr., Kim (Eric) Shepler, Carolyn (Kevin) Paiva, Jason Benavides, Tiffany (Jason) Rohde and Shantella Benavides; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He will be missed by many, but none more than his best friend and daughter, Shantella.
The family will not be holding special services, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
