Edward Rhew Obituary

Alanson - Edward Bethel Rhew, 69, of Alanson, bid farewell to this world, Friday, April 14th, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital with his wife and daughter by his side.

Ed was born December 19, 1953, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Hawley and Lucille (Priddy) Rhew. He graduated from Pellston High School in 1972 and joined the United States Air Force where he was a radio mechanic. He married his soul mate, Denise Newsome, November 13th, 1976. Ed worked at Control Engineering in Pellston for 15 years and Chestnut Valley Golf Course before retiring from Bay View Association in 2019.

In his spare time, Ed enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing with his dad, Michigan Wolverines football, gardening, growing trees, falling asleep to NASCAR, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and dogs. Eddie was a member of Cheboygan Sportsman Club where he shot a Fred Bear Recurve Bow and won several championships. He enjoyed the music of Jim Croce and The Doobie Brothers.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 46 years; parents Hawley and Lucille Rhew; daughter Jamie; brother Vance (Dawn); sisters Julie (Rod, deceased) Aho; Kathy (Tim) Lijewski; Lisa (Tim) Meister; many nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; cousins; caring friends; precious dogs Effie, Emma and Eyana; as well as grand dogs Bailey, Georgie and Riley.

Donations in Ed’s name can be made to Brave Hearts Estate (retreat for veterans and family): 4171 Ely Rd Pellston, MI 49769.

A small gathering of family and friends will take place at a later date. Per his wishes cremation has taken place and services, if any, would be announced by the family.
